Evaluation of eLearning for Effective Practice course starting 26 July 2010

Another round of the Evaluation of eLearning for Effective Practice course is about to start on 26 July 2010.  You will discover how to plan and carry out an authentic evaluation project relevant to your work. There are many wings to the evaluation process. To obtain valid and reliable information an evaluation must be planned carefully, and involves a lot more than running a survey. You will be encouraged to look at the big picture and explore a variety of methods to find the answers you need.  This is a very practical course and is based on up-to-date models. The course is facilitated online by Bronwyn Hegarty (Educational Developer) from Otago Polytechnic and administered by Manukau Institute of Technology.

Evaluation findings can be very useful if you are trying to make quality improvements in your practice and/or in your organisation or verify the strengths of your innovation. There is nothing like hard data and a well written report for influencing management decisions.

In the course you are supported to choose the appropriate evaluation project for your context. Some of the choices include : Needs Analysis - what sort of eLearning approach is suitable; Usability - testing of courses and products under development; Effectiveness evaluation - an estimation of how well a course or product is working. Every fortnight the class will participate in real-time web conferencing sessions about specific topics as listed in the schedule. Plus there is an opportunity for anytime online discussion. The course schedule is currently being re-organised on the course website.
